We understand that seeking mental health support can feel like a significant step. General Questions
Who do you serve at your practice?
What is a PMHNP and how can they help me?
What can I expect in our work together?
What should I expect at my first visit?
We specialize in the mental health of adolescent girls (ages 15+) and women through all stages of life. We are particularly passionate about supporting mothers during pregnancy and the postpartum period, as well as those navigating infertility, pregnancy loss, and reproductive transitions.
A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice nurse trained to assess, diagnose, and provide mental health care. We bring a whole-person nursing perspective to psychiatry, offering evidence-based medication management paired with compassionate, patient-centered support.
Expect a partnership. We take a warm, trauma-informed approach that prioritizes stability and well-being. Whether you are seeking medication, therapy, or coaching, we focus on empowering you to become the healthiest version of yourself in a calm, judgment-free environment.
The first step is a 60 to 90-minute initial evaluation. This is a dedicated time for us to listen to your history, understand your goals, and discuss clinical recommendations. Together, we’ll move forward with a compassionate plan tailored specifically to your life.
Services & Caring Approaches
What exactly is Perinatal Mental Health care?
Perinatal care refers to mental health support during pregnancy and the year following childbirth. We help women navigate common challenges like postpartum anxiety, depression, OCD, and birth trauma, providing a warm and steady hand as you transition into or through motherhood.
How do therapy and medication management work together?
We view medication as one piece of the wellness puzzle. While it can provide the stability needed to engage in growth, therapy helps build resilience and coping tools. We collaborate closely with you to decide if medication is the right step, always prioritizing your comfort and values.
What can I expect from wellness coaching?
Coaching is a proactive, goal-oriented space for teen girls and women to build confidence and resilience skills. Unlike clinical therapy, coaching focuses more on building practical life skills, healthy boundaries, and self-belief in a safe and judgment-free environment.
Do you help with PMS, PMDD, or menopause mood changes?
Absolutely. Significant mental health shifts can often be tied to hormonal transitions. We specialize in treating symptoms related to PMDD, perimenopause, and menopause, validating your experience and finding treatments that actually work with your cycle and life stage.
Are sessions provided in-person or via telehealth?
We offer both! We serve clients throughout Georgia through in-person visits at our Sandy Springs office or secure telehealth. For clients in Vermont, specialized psychiatric mental health services are available exclusively via secure video sessions.
Booking & Appointments
How do I schedule my first appointment?
The first step is to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call. This allows us to connect briefly, discuss your needs, and determine if our practice is the right fit for your mental health journey. You can book this call directly through our online portal or by submitting a request on our contact page.
What happens during the free consultation call?
This is a brief, supportive conversation designed to help you feel comfortable. We will talk about what has been on your mind, what kind of support you are looking for (such as perinatal care or teen medication management), and any questions you have about our therapeutic approach. It is a completely no-pressure opportunity to see how we might work together.
Do you offer telehealth or in-person sessions?
We offer both! For clients in Georgia, we have a warm and welcoming office in Sandy Springs for in-person visits, as well as secure telehealth options. For clients in Vermont, care is provided exclusively via telehealth. We use a HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure your sessions are private, convenient, and accessible from the comfort of your own home.
How should I prepare for my first psychiatric evaluation?
Once your appointment is confirmed, you will receive a link to our secure client portal to complete your intake forms. We ask that these be finished at least 24 hours before your session so we can review them thoroughly. For telehealth, try to find a quiet, private space where you feel safe to speak. Having a list of any current medications or past treatments can also be very helpful as we build your care plan together.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
We understand that life happens, especially for busy mothers and teens. We require 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling requests. This allows us to offer that time to someone else who may be waiting for care. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be subject to a late cancellation fee, as outlined in our practice policies.
How often will we need to meet?
The frequency of visits is entirely personalized to your needs and goals. Typically, after an initial evaluation, we may meet every 2-4 weeks during the early phases of treatment to ensure medication and therapy are working effectively. Once you feel steady and balanced, we often move to maintenance visits every 1-3 months. We will always decide on a schedule together that feels right for you.
Billing & Insurance
How does the private-pay model work?
One Twenty-Four operates as a private-pay practice. This structure allows us to focus entirely on your needs without being restricted by insurance company mandates. It ensures your clinical records remain strictly confidential and allows us to provide the unhurried, personalized care that adolescent girls and women deserve.
Can I get reimbursed if I have insurance?
While we are out-of-network, many insurance plans provide reimbursement for mental health services. Upon request, we can provide you with a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement is determined by your individual plan and is not guranteed.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept all major credit cards, as well as Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards. Payment is collected securely through our patient portal at the time of your service to keep the process simple and stress-free.
What is the cancellation policy?
We respect your time and ask that you respect ours. We require at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or schedule changes. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments, will be charged the full session fee.
Support & Resources
What Should I Do in a Crisis?
If you or someone you love is experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or head to the nearest emergency room. While I am here to walk alongside you in your wellness journey, this practice does not provide 24/7 crisis intervention.
How Do I Reach Out Between Appointments?
For non-urgent questions or scheduling needs, the secure patient portal is the most direct way to reach me. This ensures your privacy and keeps our communication organized in one place for your records.
How Should I Use Resources Between Sessions?
Healing often happens in the spaces between our sessions. I may share worksheets, grounding techniques, or reading materials tailored to your needs. These are invitations to explore your inner world at your own pace—bring any reflections to our next visit.
Where Can I Find Additional Specialized Support?
We believe in community. If you need support beyond psychiatry—such as doula services, specific adolescent programs, or therapeutic groups—I am happy to provide curated referrals to practitioners who share our values of safety and warmth.
